Make the Most of Each Visit With Your Health Care Provider

When you visit your health care provider:

  • Describe what is wrong with you and how you feel.
  • Ask questions. What is my blood glucose or blood sugar level? What should my blood sugar level be? Write down your questions before your visit so you do not forget.
  • Ask for instructions in writing.
  • Before you leave, make sure you make an appointment if you need one.

Be sure to take your meter or list of blood sugar readings when you see your health care provider. Also, make sure you go over them with your health care provider. Write down any questions you have before you go.
